From Feast of Fields to Iron Chef Competitions

Feast of Fields Events, Agricultural Films and Local Iron Chef Competitions

Over the years Andrea has embarked on many ways to bring the agricultural and food groups together. Back in 1995 she brought farmers and chefs together to showcase their gourmet dishes produced with local produce and livestock at Feast of Fields events in the North Okanagan.

During the summer of 2007 Andrea featured a weekly series of thought provoking agriculture and food films. The film series was after dusk, outdoors on the walls of The Village Cheese Co in Armstrong.

Local Foods' Iron Chef Competitions

For 8 years Andrea hosted the Interior Provincial Exhibition's Iron Chef Competition in Armstrong. A few years back she organized a similar competition in Prince George and is looking to grow this local food event in other areas too.

2016 MC Jayme McKillop's recap of the 7th Annual Iron Chefs' Competition:

"I had an awesome time MC'ing at the #IPEIronChef again this year! Wow, the caliber of chefs was amazing. Great to see the teams BX Creek Bar and GrillGumtree CateringHalcyon Hot Springs, and Craft Corner Kitchen really bring it! Wow, each year I'm so inspired by what these chefs create from all our locally produced food. Literally! Art on a plate!

I'm blown away by what our food producing community shares with the #IPEIronChef. Big thanks to Askew's FoodsRancho Vignola, (thanks Shanda for your awesome demos) Terroir CheeseThe Village CheeseFresh Valley FarmsBellmann Specialty ProduceHelmut's Sausage KitchenCannery BrewingHappy Days Dairies... and so many more!

Please like and share these incredible producers, from my facebook page, chefs and restaurants pages and more importantly, buy from your farmers and small scale producers. It feels darn good and tastes even better. To our tireless captain Andrea Gunner of Rosebank Farms: You never cease to amaze me ... Wonderful work, once again. You herd 'cats' like a pro and I just love how you always do it calmly and with a smile.

As always, it was a true pleasure to catch up with Allison M Markin and Cindy Masters. You both do the work, I seriously could not. Judging all those dishes? Wow... To Anna Gorman of Okanagan Rawsome, so great to connect! Beverley Peacock: you were missed of course, but loved working with your darling daughter Emily 'Till Next Year!"  Jayme
